HARROWAY HOUSE SIDE SADDLE
1 DAY INTRODUCTORY COURSE
Betty Skelton, Lucinda’s grandmother, the doyenne of Side Saddle riding, was one of the first people to set up the Side Saddle Association being its President for more years than we care to remember! Lucinda and her family have ridden aside all their lives. Most of their horses have too, and it was only this year that their friend and neighbour, Lucinda Green, discovered that her Badminton winner ‘Be Fair’ had been ridden Side Saddle, under the tutelage of Mrs Skelton, who was also the then Lucinda Prior-Palmer’s trainer and mentor!
They don’t get more experienced than Lucinda, and this introductory day is designed to give you the chance to see if this graceful way of riding is worth pursuing.
Arrival 9.30am, to start at 10am. Finish at 3.30pm. Day includes:
Side saddle attire, old and new - Tack and tacking up - Mounting and dismounting - Basic position - Progression from walk - Side saddle demonstration - Next steps.
Price includes use of horse for the day, welcome coffee and lunch.

2 DAY COURSE
Riders on this course should have some previous Side Saddle experience, or have been on an introductory course at Harroway already.
The aim of this course is to progress in riding ability aside, with an aim to enhancing existing skills and becoming more at ease with this riding style.
Autumn courses will include the opportunity to go Autumn hunting with a local pack of foxhounds.
Both Lucinda and Phillippa Stacy have years of Side Saddle competition experience, and can help direct where best you can enjoy your riding, depending on your preferences.
There will be a lot of riding on the two day course, so come prepared!
